Laverne Rhynes Allen

Laverne Rhynes Allen, 78, longtime resident of Harmontown, Miss.¬, most current resident of Arlington, Tenn., passed away on April 24, 2014. 

She worked at the 4-55 Truck Stop in Senatobia, for 35 plus years. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Leon Rhynes and husband, Joe Carson “J.C.” Allen; stepdaughter, Mary Webb, and stepson, James Allen. 

She is survived by her daughters, Veneda Ruby of Harmontown, Miss., and Kathy Carson (Allen) of Arlington, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Pat Stokes of Batesville, Miss.; sons, David Rhynes (Virginia) and Lynn Rhynes both of Waterford, Miss.; sisters, Joyce Waller (Winston) of Pensacola, Fla. and Jane Jackson of Como, Miss.; brother, Jimmy Perkins (Valerie) of New Albany, Miss.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one very special girl, Morgan; and many friends. 

Services were held Sunday, April 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Free Springs Cemetery in Harmontown. 

Mrs. Allen was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ, Harmontown, and Olive Creek Church of Christ, Arlington, Tenn.



Douglas Marlin Begrin, Sr.


Douglas Marlin Begrin, Sr. (Mudflap), 60, of Strayhorn, Miss., passed away April 29, 2014. 

He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the Navy. 

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Coker Begrin of Strayhorn; daughter, Jacy Begrin Jones (Jeremy) of Strayhorn; sons, Mark Begrin (J.P.) of Aurora, Ill. and D.J. Begrin of Strayhorn; sister, Jackie Begrin-Marston of El Cerrito, Calif.; brothers, Tom Begrin of Dawson Springs, Ky., and Ronnie Begrin of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Mr. Begrin was a member of Flag Lake Baptist Church.  

Visitation was held Friday, May 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia.



Katherine Elaine Carlisle


Katherine Elaine Carlisle, surrounded by family, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2014. Born to Ira Clyde, Sr. and Oder McCullough on February 4, 1920, she was married to Dee Boyce Carlisle 64 years until his death.

Survivors are her daughters, Mary Jane Aldridge-Cluts and Agnes Ruth Greenwood, both of Sarah; foster son, Luther Red of Sarah; sister, Jaunice (Tootsie) Williams of Eudora; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, Buster Bradley, brother, Ira Clyde McCullough, and foster grandson, Anthony Red.

She was a member of Center Hill Church of God where she was pianist for many years. 

She retired from Baptist Hospital where she worked in the nursery caring for premature babies. 

She loved her friends, church and gardening.

Pallbearers were Dustin Aldridge, Cody Aldridge, Gabe Aldridge, Ed Teague, Charles Michael Bradley, and Ken Herring.

Honorary pallbearers were Daisy Houston, Shirley Galloway and Louise Houston.

Services were held on Wednesday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Flag Lake Cemetery.



Benjamin Russell Fountain


Mr. Benjamin Russell Fountain, 29, of Charleston, Miss., passed away April, 26, 2014 in Charleston. 

Mr. Fountain was a general manager at Tallaflore AG Aviation of Harlom Iowa, and was of the Church of God Faith.

The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, at North Shady Grove Church of God. Funeral service was held Tuesday, April 29, at 11:00 a. m. at North Shady Grove Church of God. Interment followed at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Fountain is survived by his wife Ashley Gowen Fountain of Charleston, Miss., one step daughter, Sara Brooke Dever of Charleston, Miss., mother, Anita (Kelly) Greenwood, of Charleston, Miss., father, Fred Fountain III of Cascilla, Miss., sisters, Cannon Fountain of Charleston, Miss., Lisa Fountain Thomas (Greg) of Jackson, Miss., step sister Jonna Greenwood of Charleston, Miss., step brother Jason Greenwood of Charleston, Miss., maternal grandmother, Virginia Taylor Mullen of Cascilla, Miss., paternal grandmother, Shirley Cannon Fountain of Greenwood, Miss., a number of cousins and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his biological father, Lee Russell Hoop, maternal grandfather Clayton Baker Mullen, paternal grandfather, Russell Hoop and paternal grandmother Lura Orrell Hoop.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Shady Grove Church of God and Charleston Church of God.



Helen Reid Moore


Mrs. Helen Reid Moore, 87, of Senatobia, Miss., formerly of Sardis, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at her home.   

Mrs. Moore is survived by three daughters, Becky Rooker of Oxford, Miss., Joanne Thompson (Terry) of Brandon, Miss., and Susanne McLendon (Jimmy) of Glen Allen, Miss.; two sons, Wallace R. Moore, Jr. (Sherry) of Jonesboro, Ark. and Clay Moore (Deborah) of Senatobia, Miss.; one sister, Linda Matthews (Roy) of Crowder, Miss.; one brother, Leroy Reid (Betty) of Lambert, Miss.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Senatobia. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. 

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home – Senatobia Chapel had charge of the arrangements.


Audrey Jones Seago


Audrey Jones Seago, 92, of Senatobia, Miss., (formerly of Falkner, Miss.), departed this earth for her heavenly home on April 30, 2014 at her residence.  

She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Jones Williams (Hale W.) of Nesbit, Glenda Hardage of Hernando, Rita Whalen (Herbert) of Senatobia, and Paula Jones Aldridge (Mark) of Coldwater; grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Aaron Williams, Jason Brumley, Kimberly Chambers, Rick  Amburn, Audra Laney, Kacie Davis and 11 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. “Billy” Jones and husband, Calvin Flow Seago; three sisters and four brothers.  

She was a member at Senatobia Church of Christ.  

Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, at the Senatobia Church of Christ. Graveside services followed at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley.  

Memorials may be made to Panama Missions in c/o Senatobia Church of Christ, P.O. Box 488, Senatobia, MS, 38668.

Larry“Bo” Drennon Springer


Larry “Bo” Drennon Springer, 75, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away April 28, 2014. 

He served his country in both the United States Marines and the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Dee Springer.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Springer, of Coldwater; his daughter and her husband, Leah and Lee Allison, of Memphis, Tenn.; stepson, Luke Barnett of Oxford; grandchildren, Hadley Blake Allison and Morgan Barnett. He also leaves behind a sister, Marty Springer Johnson of Olympia, Wash., and a brother, Billy B. Springer of Sarasota, Fla.

Graveside services were held at 1:45 p.m., Thursday, May 1, at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.

Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch had charge of the arrangements.


James Henry Yates


James Henry Yates, 87, passed away on April 24, 2014 at Providence Place in Senatobia, Miss.  

He is survived by his sister, Beverly White (David, Jr.) of Nashville, Tenn. and his nieces and nephews. 

He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army and was a lifetime South Central Bell employee. 

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 29, at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 30, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
