Doris Jean James Bizzle

Doris Jean James Bizzle, 79, of Senatobia, Miss., died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at her home.  She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Looxahoma Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Bizzle was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Bizzle and by her brother, Clarence (Sonny) James.  

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Wiggins (Buddy), Rhonda Kimberlin (Jim) and Laurie Poppenheimer (Glen); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Bobby Ray James.  

Visitation was held from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, followed by services at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill South Funeral Home.  Interment was in Forest Hill South Cemetery.



Sue Wilson Boothe


Mrs. Sue Wilson Boothe, 63, of Sardis, Miss., passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. 

Mrs. Boothe, an educator, was born on January 7, 1951 in Memphis, Tenn. to the late Geraldine Fitts Wilson and Arnold Wilson. She was a member of the Sardis First Baptist Church and served as a board member of the Heflin House Museum in Sardis. She was active in Friends of the Library in Sardis and in the Sardis Women’s Club. 

Mrs. Boothe is survived by two sons, Al Boothe (Candace) of Sardis, and Brandon Boothe (Jennifer) of Southaven; one sister, Willie Jo Goodwin of Como; one brother, Marshall Wilson of Harmontown; and five grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial followed in McGhee’s Chapel Cemetery near Sardis. Visitation was held in the funeral home on Monday, May 12, from 12-2 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to McGhee’s Chapel Cemetery. 

Ray-Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Verlean W. Connard


Verlean W. Connard, 54, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away May 9, 2014. Funeral services were held May 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Shady Grove M.B. Church in Senatobia. Interment followed in Shady Grove M.B. Church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Edward E. Connard of Senatobia; daughter, LaQuita L. Davis of Senatobia; two sons, Edward Ellis Connard Jr. and Alvin Connard, both of Senatobia; sisters, Earline Canty, Shirley Hues, Patricia Wilson, all of Memphis, Tenn.; step sisters, Sherry Wilson and Lisa Wilson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; step brothers, Reginald Wilson, Greg Wilson, Oscar Wilson, James Wilson Jr.; and eight grandchildren.

Felix Cauthen Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.



Jimbo Owens


Jimbo Owens, 56, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away May 10, 2014 at his residence. He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Lynn Owens; sons, Ben Owens and Matthew Lee Owens; and five grandchildren, all of Coldwater.

Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge of the arrangements.



Fred Sessom


Fred Sessom, 75, truck driver, passed away on May 14, 2014. Funeral services will be held today, May 20 at West Looxahoma Church of Christ in Senatobia. 

He is survived by his daughters, Anne Nelson of Senatobia, Della Jackson of Memphis, Tenn., Lisa Crawford of Denver, Colo., and Lasonya Sessom of Horn Lake; brothers, L.C. Sessom of St. Louis, Mo. and Herbert Sessom, Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater had charge of the arrangements.



Patricia “Sissy” Vann-Sanders

Patricia “Sissy” Vann-Sanders, 64, of Arkabutla, Miss., passed away on May 10, 2014 at her home. 

She is survived by her spouse, Jack M. Davis, Jr. of Arkabutla; daughter, Trish Marlow (Frank) of Horn Lake; son, Jack M. Davis, III of Arkabutla; sister, Sandra Cooper of Potts Camp; brothers, Randy Vann and Jack Vann of Southaven; mother, Judy Vann of Southaven; sister-in-law, Patsy K. Chipman; and grandchildren, Brittany Marlow, Vince Waisnor and Lexie Waisnor.

The family received friends at a catered reception Wednesday, May 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15. Both were held at Hernando Funeral Home. Interment followed in Forest Hill South Cemetery.



Clara Dee Yates

Clara Dee Yates, 94, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away on May 5, 2014. Funeral services were held on May 10 at 12 noon at St. Semaratain AME Church in Cottonville, Miss. Interment followed in St. Semaratain Church Cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Annette Clayton of Coldwater; son, Joe Louise Yates of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Mattie Yates of Cottonville; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.

Mary Lue Doyle Young


Mary Lue Doyle Young, 59, of Como, Miss., passed away May 10, 2014. Funeral services were held at Braham Chapel Church in Como on May 17 at 1:00 p.m. Burial followed in Braham Chapel Cemetery in Sardis.

She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Jean Doyle, Renida Green, Shantae Burton, Marchelle Burton, all of Como; five sons, Terry Lynn Doyle of Bebit, Ill., Jimmy Lynn Young, Ray Earl Young, Carlos Lee Burton, and Mario Lee Burton, all of Como; one sister, Dorothy Patterson of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Robert Mays of Como, Eddie Doyle Jr. of Senatobia, and Rodger Doyle of Como; and eight grandchildren.
