The Senatobia Board of Aldermen have been fielding applicants for a vacant seat on the Senatobia Municipal School District Board of Trustees and have now found their man. The Aldermen have selected Jeffrey Patton to serve on the school board during the remainder of the term. "Mr. Patton has a child in the school system. I think that gives him a vested interest in serving on this board. He's a resident of this town and has been for a while," Alderman Mike Putt said. Putt made the motion to appoint Patton to the position. Penny Frazier seconded the motion. The vote passed 4-0. Lana Nail abstained from the vote and discussion due to her employment with the school district. Patton currently has a son, Dre, who is a freshman at Senatobia High School. He also has an older daughter, Karneshia, who graduated from Senatobia High School in the class of 2008. Patton said that his appointment to the school board has been a humbling experience and that he is anxious to begin. "I'm just glad to have even been considered for the position on the school board. It's an honor to be involved with the schools and I'm looking forward to working with the other members of the school board and helping out in any way that I can," Patton said. Patton will serve the remainder of the term in the seat vacated by the late Dr. Dwayne Richardson, who passed away in October. The Senatobia school board is scheduled to hold its monthly meeting for January on Thursday, January 10 at the school district's central office on McKie Street.
